Hon.-Prof. Dr. Maria Berger, Bundesministerin a. D. is Senior Expert Counsel at LANSKY, GANZGER, GOETH + partner. She holds a doctorate in law and is the contact person for questions on European law issues. Until recently, Maria Berger was a judge at the European Court of Justice (ECJ) (2009-2019). Before that, she was a Member of the European Parliament (November 1996 - January 2007 and December 2008 - July 2009) and a member of the Committee on Legal Affairs, she served as Federal Minister of Justice between 2007 and 2008. 

Maria Berger offers a broad portfolio and experience as a case officer for EU issues in the Federal Chancellery and Head of the Department for Integration Policy Coordination in the Federal Chancellery. She was significantly involved in the preparation of Austria's accession to the European Union. 

Maria Berger's career has already taken her through a number of stages. Among other things, she was a lecturer at the Institute for Public Law and Political Science at the University of Innsbruck, Vice-President of the Danube University Krems and Director at the EFTA Surveillance Authority in Geneva and Brussels.

She has published on various topics of European law (list here), is also Honorary Professor of "European Law" at the University of Vienna and Honorary Senator of the University of Innsbruck.
